The sinking of MV Sewol, also known as the Sewol ferry disaster, occurred on the morning of 16 April 2014. MV Sewol was en route from Incheon Harbor to Jeju Island in South Korea. Out of 467 passengers and crew, 304 died in the disaster, including 250 students from Danwon High School (Ansan City) and 11 teachers. All but 5 of the bodies were recovered. To this day, the bereaved families are still seeking an in-depth investigation of the tragedy.
